Mary Adelman is the Acting Regional Director at America’s SBDC of Northwest Jersey, one of twelve Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) in New Jersey. Mary uses her management consulting, small business, and financial services experience to assist SBDC clients.
Have you ever wondered what it takes to grow your business? She has helped more than 2500 clients answer that question. Mary has been helping SBDC clients answer this question for more than 12 years as Assistant Director, directly responsible for program creation and partnerships and in her current role as Acting Regional Director for which she has served in for more than 1.5 years. In her roles she has created partnerships and programs with the following: Avalara, Golden Seed, Thrive Hive, Exit Planning Institute, First Night Morris County and Digital Chalk.
Mary’s ingenuity has made more than 2500 people starting businesses, in business, and those wanting to expand their footprint in the world of business. Mary’s acumen ensures a clients’ success in combining her management consulting and financial experience which has helped navigate more than 2500 clients through the ever-evolving business landscape. Her accomplishment as a business developer connector has garnered her the highest respect from clients, peers, and fortune 100 companies. She provides marketing and strategic support to her clients helping them achieve real business growth. Mary’s globally located clients can reach her when they want to tap into her expertise. In addition, she lends her expertise, in conducting training programs in Marketing, QuickBooks, Recordkeeping, Financial Statements and many more.
Recognized in business for her knowledge and dedication to the business community, Mary was the recipient of the Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year in 2010 and 2011. Also, she was honored by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) at their national conference as one of only 9 nationwide recipients of the 2009 Pinnacle Award from the for her work on “Mission Career Success” – a Workforce Readiness Program. The program is part of the Tip of the Arrow Foundation that is designed to support veterans in employment transition, this also earned Mary a Certificate of Appreciation from the Garden State Council – SHRM.
To characterize Mary’s connection to the business community as “LinkedIn” would be an understatement. Mary shares her expertise with local and statewide business professionals through her involvement with a variety of organizations. She is a member of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO), where she was the 2012-2015 state President, served as the 2011-2012 state President-Elect, 2010-2011 state Vice President of Public Policy, and previously served as state Vice President of Membership. Additionally, she has served as Secretary, President, and Boot Camp Co-chair for the Sussex-Warren NJAWBO chapter. Mary has served on the Advisory Council of NORWESCAP- Career and Life Transition Center, served on the Advisory Board of the Informal Business Owners Group (ISBOG), chaired the Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce Community & Economic Development Committee, and sat on the Advisory Council for Own It Ventures. In addition to her business advisory roles and other board appointments, Mary has served as Chairperson of the Board for Gentle Passages Care, Inc. Mary has an AAS in Business Management from the County College of Morris, Randolph, NJ and BS in Psychology from Ashford University.
